Deans Mill School

Learn, Inspire, Grow Together

Welcome

Dear Deans Mill School Community,

It is with excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as Principal of Deans Mill School.  As I transition into my new position, I am looking forward to meeting students, parents/guardians, and staff to get to know them better and learn more about how the school year is going for them.  Having previously served as Assistant Principal, I am fortunate to be familiar with most students and families in Grades 3, 4, & 5 so it will be great to catch up and see everybody again.

A Team Effort

It is an honor for me to help continue to build upon the legacy of Deans Mill School.  While our school's accolades have been impressive, it is the strong school community that makes Deans Mill stand out amongst the best.  It is clear that the success of  Deans Mill School is a true team effort—from our hardworking staff members, to our engaged parents and dedicated PTO, to our wonderful students.

The Path Ahead

My priority is to ensure a seamless transition where our students and staff continue to feel supported and inspired every day.  The focus of our staff will remain on student learning, engagement, safety, and fun.

I look forward to seeing you all and for the journey ahead.

Sincerely,

Tom Bousquet

About

Deans Mill School is a Pre-K to 5 elementary school located in Stonington, CT. DMS is an inclusive school with approximately 420 students. It is named for the mill that was originally located at the site of the present water company nearby the school. In 2019, DMS completed a major renovation and expansion to our campus.

Deans Mill School’s mission is to provide quality instruction, which will challenge students’ abilities and provide them with the knowledge and skills to participate successfully in a democracy.

We, at DMS, believe that children are our greatest resource and that we need to uphold high expectations for all. We work hard to "learn, inspire and grow together" each and every day

We hold that:

● Students must be literate and demonstrate communication, computation, and problem-solving skills;

● Knowledge is best acquired when students function in a safe, orderly, and nurturing environment;

● Students should be held in high standards, and that they learn when instruction is commensurate with their ability and presented in an orderly and purposeful manner;

● Each student’s education leads to intellectual, aesthetic, physical and social development;

● Our ultimate goal is to foster a love for learning that will enable them to become life-long learners, and self-sufficient and productive members of society.
